U23 World Championship
As a result of this victory, Turkey has earned a spot in the championship match for the Under-23 World Championship, which was most recently contested in Toronto, Canada, in 2017.
In a nail-biting match, Japan prevailed against Spain by a score of 51–53, ensuring their position against Turkey in the game for the gold medal. After defeating Japan by a score of 19 points in the group stage, Spain established themselves as the overwhelming favorite to go to the final. Once again, Spain was unable to break through Japan’s high-intensity defense, and in the game’s stressful closing seconds, Japan was able to hang on to advance to the championship game for the first time since 2005. Since they won the championship in 2005, Japan hasn’t even made it back to the finals since then.
Tomorrow will go down in history as a momentous occasion due to the fact that Japan and Turkey have never before won the U23 World Championship.
